Woman Freed From Jail After Planning Mum’s Murder Following Years of Abuse

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who spent nearly a decade behind bars after being convicted of orchestrating her mother’s murder, has been released from prison.

The now 32-year-old helped plan her medically abusive mother’s murder with her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, in 2015. Godejohn will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole, but Blanchard is now being released.

Blanchard is believed to have been a victim of Munchausen by proxy, a form of abuse in which the parent or guardian exaggerates or induces illness in a child for attention and sympathy. Her mother, Dee Dee, alleged that her daughter had leukaemia, asthma, muscular dystrophy, and an allergy to sugar. At the same time, complications during a premature birth left her with brain damage, resulting in her having the mental capacity of a seven-year-old.

She shaved her daughter’s head regularly to make her look like she had undergone chemotherapy and forced Gypsy Rose to use a wheelchair despite her not needing one.

As Gypsy Rose grew older, several doctors found that she tested negative for muscular dystrophy and that she could indeed walk. In 2012, Gypsy Rose met Nicholas Godejohn online, and the pair grew close. In 2013, Gypsy Rose organized for Nicholas to visit her home in Springfield, Missouri, when they began their sexual relationship. They also began planning Dee Dee’s murder.

Gypsy Rose claims that she didn’t think Nicholas would do the act. However, he stabbed Dee Dee to death before having sex with Gypsy Rose and fleeing to Wisconsin. Gypsy Rose is now being released from prison and has plans already. She plans to meet Taylor Swift at a Kansas City Chiefs game she will attend in three days with her now husband Ryan.

Blanchard also said she intends to buy tickets for Swift’s October 2024 tour stop in New Orleans if she fails to meet the star.
