King Charles Threatens to Cut Ties with Prince Andrew Over Refusal to Move to Frogmore Cottage
According to a source close to the monarch, King Charles threatened to sever ties with Prince Andrew if he refused to move into Prince Harry’s former residence, Frogmore Cottage.
The disgraced Duke of York, who no longer performs official duties, resides at Royal Lodge with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. The King has been urging Andrew to vacate the mansion amid rumours that Prince William is interested in moving into the home.
Charles has reportedly offered to cover Andrew’s living expenses from his private funds.
However, Andrew would need to shoulder most of his security, accommodation, and lifestyle costs, which may be unsustainable in the long term given the financial demands.
Andrew struggles to pay the £400,000 annual upkeep of the Royal Lodge, valued at around £30 million.
He has been barred from engaging in royal duties due to his involvement in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
Despite being asked to leave the property, Andrew was granted a reprieve after agreeing to carry out repair work. However, recent images suggest that the building still requires significant maintenance, potentially sparking new conflicts.
Frogmore Cottage, recently renovated by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, is reportedly in good condition and would save costs if Andrew were to relocate.
Andrew moved into Royal Lodge in 2004 under a 75-year lease, paying £250 a week and agreeing to maintain the extensive property.
