The teacher refutes any wrongdoing with Boy B, 16, stating that their relationship only began after she had lost her job and he had left the school, removing any position of trust between them.

Prosecutor Joe Allman challenged this narrative, questioning Joynes about the quick progression of their relationship after her dismissal. Joynes confirmed that sex with Boy B only started five days after she was fired.

During the cross-examination, Mr Allman pointed out that Joynes had been having Boy B over to her flat since he was 15, implying that she only found him attractive once it was legal.

The prosecution emphasized the similarities between the cases of Boy A and Boy B, who were 15 when Joynes started bringing them to her flat. She communicated with them on Snapchat, where the police could not retrieve messages.

The interactions were kept hidden from the boys’ parents, and both boys flirted with Joynes. Boy A called her ‘sexy’, while Boy B sent a message asking her to ‘get your tits out’. Joynes responded with ‘laughing faces’.

Mr. Allman reminded Joynes of the boys’ age, which she acknowledged. Boy B testified that Joynes kissed him and had sex with him at her flat while he was still in school.

These incidents occurred after Joynes had already been arrested, suspended, and bailed out during the investigation involving Boy A. Joynes mentioned that she appreciated the attention from Boy B, leading to a friendship that developed due to her loneliness.

Speaking to her family, Joynes admitted to making mistakes and ruining her chances at her dream job.

Instead of seeking the company of her supportive family, a sister, and a best friend back home on the Wirral, Joynes opted to go for walks with a 15-year-old boy who would visit her flat in Salford, as Mr Allman stated.

The prosecutor questioned the rationale behind this choice, asking, “How on Earth can that second scenario be a draw for you?”

Joynes responded, acknowledging her foolishness and admitting, “I was stupid, but I did choose that option. I was breaking my bail conditions.”

However, she maintained that the relationship with Boy B did not become sexual until after she was no longer a teacher.

According to her, the relationship eventually turned sour, with Boy B becoming “controlling.”

Mr Allman challenged Joynes’ reasoning, stating, “Let’s examine the reality of the situation. You were 29, living in a flat, had a good income, and drove an Audi A1. He was a child, and you were an adult. He was a pupil, and you were a teacher. He lived with his parents, who were not supposed to know about your liaisons with him. Who was controlling who?”

The jury heard that Joynes and Boy B had arguments regarding whether to terminate the pregnancy resulting from their sexual relations.

Boy B claimed that Joynes exerted emotional pressure on him to continue their relationship after he called her a “paedo” and urged her to find someone her age in an attempt to end it.

Joynes wrote in a letter to Boy B, “Every inch of you is perfect. You are all I ever dream about.”

Joynes told the court, “This was a year after he left school. I was in love with him. I was pregnant with his child.”

Joynes is facing six charges of engaging in sexual activity with a child, including two while being in a position of trust, all of which she denies.
