Former US President Donald Trump once again criticised the ongoing criminal trial against him in New York, alleging that his political adversaries are exploiting the legal system to disrupt his presidential campaign
Trump denounced what he termed as the “weaponisation” of the legal process, expressing concern over the global perception of the New York legal system. Following the day’s proceedings, Trump described it as a “day of infamy” and expressed profound disturbance at the unfolding events in the courtroom.
Attending the trial, Trump asserted that its primary objective is to hinder his campaign efforts, rather than seeking justice.
He vehemently denied any wrongdoing, emphasising the absence of evidence supporting the allegations against him.
Trump accused the judge presiding over the trial of corruption and bias, alleging that they are preventing him from engaging in campaigning activities.
The former president highlighted the controversy surrounding his former attorney, Michael Cohen, suggesting that it is being used to undermine his candidacy further. Trump argued that the trial is politically motivated, aimed at tarnishing his reputation and impeding his reelection bid.
Despite the challenges he faces, Trump remains resolute in his defense and committed to contesting what he perceives as a politically motivated attack on his candidacy.
The trial is scheduled to resume with further testimony from Cohen, presenting an opportunity for Trump’s legal team to challenge the prosecution’s case and refute the allegations against him.
