King Charles III is said to have lost his ability to taste during his cancer treatment.
According to the Daily Mail and the UK Sun, the British monarch revealed this during a visit to the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hampshire, accompanied by his son, Prince William.
During their visit, Charles spoke with British Army veteran Aaron Mapplebeck, who shared his taste loss experience during chemotherapy for testicular cancer. Charles, aged 75, then disclosed that he, too, had faced a “loss of taste” during his cancer treatment, although the type of cancer has not been disclosed.
Efforts to obtain comments from Buckingham Palace regarding these reports have not been successful, and there has been no official confirmation or denial yet.
In a rare joint appearance, Charles and 41-year-old William visited the museum, where Charles appointed his son as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. It was a moment filled with mixed emotions as Charles reflected on his long association with the Corps during a speech in front of veterans and their families.
During the speech, Charles praised William’s piloting skills, offering encouragement and pride.
This disclosure from Charles comes shortly after he resumed his public duties on April 30 following a break for treatment. He and Queen Camilla visited the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre to meet with patients and staff, marking his return to public engagements.
The announcement of Charles’ cancer diagnosis was made on April 26 after initial procedures for benign prostate enlargement revealed another health issue in February. A statement from Buckingham Palace highlighted Charles’ positive attitude towards treatment and his eagerness to resume his public duties fully.
However, specific details about the type of cancer or treatment plan have not been disclosed by the royal family.
In a related health update, Kensington Palace revealed in March that Kate Middleton underwent significant abdominal surgery in January, which led to the discovery of cancer post-operation. Since then, the Duchess of Cambridge has been focusing on her recovery away from public engagements.
The royal family continues prioritising privacy regarding health matters, sharing updates as needed while respecting the individuals’ recovery processes.
