Two Premier League clubs want to sign Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood during the summer transfer window.
Greenwood, who has been on loan at Getafe, has shown impressive form with ten goals and six assists in 32 appearances this season.
Despite his on-field prowess, Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford remains uncertain following off-field controversies. After being arrested for various charges in January 2022, which were later dropped, United had planned to reintegrate him but faced backlash, leading to his loan move.
European clubs, mainly from Spain, Italy, and Germany, have shown strong interest in Greenwood, with United setting a price tag of £40-45 million for the 22-year-old forward.
Recent reports suggest two unnamed Premier League clubs have inquired about Greenwood, signalling domestic interest. However, a move abroad seems more probable due to significant interest from continental teams.
Getafe, where Greenwood is currently on loan, is unlikely to be able to afford his transfer fee and wages. Similarly, despite keen interest, Barcelona faces financial constraints, leaving Atletico Madrid as a potential contender.
In Italy, Juventus and Lazio are monitoring Greenwood’s situation closely, with ex-England manager Fabio Capello advocating for his move to Juventus, emphasizing Greenwood’s footballing abilities.
With just over a year left on his contract, United prefers selling Greenwood this summer, especially given their financial situation. Alternatively, they would consider another loan stint with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
