Gardaí have arrested a man in Dublin city today after an alleged attempt to abduct a 2-year-old child outside their home on Sheriff Street at around 1 pm.
The child’s mother momentarily stepped indoors, leaving the door ajar, only to observe a man outside attempting to remove the toddler from the buggy.
Upon noticing the situation, a bystander intervened by shouting, prompting the mother to confront the individual.
Local residents stepped in when the man tried to depart, restraining him until law enforcement arrived promptly thereafter.
A man in his 20s was apprehended and held under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Authorities are investigating all aspects of the incident, including the possibility of mental health factors contributing to the situation.
