M10News — President Biden has confirmed that he will face off with former President Donald Trump on the debate stage ahead of their rematch scheduled for November 5, ending speculation after Biden’s previous remarks indicating it depended on Trump’s behaviour.

During a rare and extensive interview with satellite radio host Howard Stern, Biden expressed his willingness to debate Trump, stating, “I am somewhere, I don’t know when, but I am happy to debate him.”

Trump’s 2024 campaign adviser, Chris LaCivita, swiftly responded to Biden’s announcement, expressing eagerness to set up the debate.

Meanwhile, Trump’s national spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, stated that the former president would personally address the news once the ongoing trial for the “hush money” case in New York City concludes.

The Trump campaign had long urged Biden to commit to debates in the 2024 cycle. Top advisers Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita advocated for earlier and more frequent debates to allow voters more fantastic opportunities to witness the candidates face off.

The Commission for Presidential Debates has tentatively scheduled three showdowns before the general election. Still, Trump’s team has argued that the dates are too far away and infrequent, calling for earlier scheduling to accommodate early voting trends.

Trump and Biden have yet to participate in any primary debates this cycle despite calls from their former competitors.

Biden had previously avoided committing to debates with Trump, jokingly remarking, “Well, if I were him, I’d want to debate me too.”

The candidates clashed twice during the 2020 campaign, with Trump targeting Biden on policy and corruption allegations.

Polls indicate bipartisan concern over Biden’s age, with him being the oldest-ever president and potential concerns about his ability to serve a full second term.

Despite Trump leading in most national and swing-state polls, concerns about a potential criminal conviction and Biden’s liabilities, such as rising inflation and immigration challenges, could impact support.
