A harrowing video captures the tragic moment a man plunges to his death as his parachute becomes entangled mid-flight during the ‘Discovering the Great Forest – Sa Thay 2024’ Kon Tum tournament in Vietnam.
The 39-year-old paraglider, yet to be identified, was attempting to land in an open field when his parachute cords became tangled, leading to the fatal crash witnessed by onlookers.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, with the victim, reportedly from Hanoi, transported to Kon Tum Hospital, where he succumbed to severe brain and chest injuries, according to local media reports.
Doctor Vo Van Thien, director of Kon Tum Provincial General Hospital, disclosed that the victim was admitted in a deep coma. Despite three hours of emergency treatment, he couldn’t be saved due to multiple traumatic injuries.
The paragliding tournament, a highlight of Kon Tum Tourism Culture Week 2024, was organized by the People’s Committee of Sa Thay district in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Kon Tum province, drawing participation from 127 athletes.
